Clara Bow Movies – Hollywood’s “It Girl”

Clara Bow had somewhat of a disheartening beginning to her life having been born to an unhappily married mother who suffered from, the then misunderstood, epileptic fits. Sara Bow, who had previously had her first two babies die prematurely expected the same for her third one. This would not be the case for Clara.

Clara’s father, Robert Bow, was a drunken, verbally and physically abusive father and husband who was unable to hold a steady job and was away most of her childhood. The family lived in 123 movies free poverty and Clara’s mother Sara was forced into work as a prostitute in order to make money for food, often locking Clara in a closet while she entertained customers in their apartment.

Clara’s poor and tattered clothing led the other little girls in her neighborhood to make fun of her. As a result, she decided to make friends with the boys, who immediately took a liking to her “tomboyish” nature.

When she had turned sixteen, in order to escape her troubled life, Clara Bow began modeling for a number of movie magazines. She had often sought personal sanctuary at the movies and after the shows would pose in front of her mirror practicing her favorite actresses gestures and expressions.

This greatly displeased her mother who would often tell Clara that “acting was for whores” and had occasionally come up behind her and threaten to kill her stating “she would be better off dead then an actress in film.” Because of this, Clara did not disclose to her mother her plans to enter a modeling contest for a chance at the cover shot on a 1921 publication of Motion Picture Magazine.

Clara submitted two photographs for the contest and the judges were impressed by how attractively she photographed. She was offered a number of follow-up screen tests which showcased her natural acting ability leading to Clara ultimately winning the contest.

Her first role was in the film Beyond the Rainbow (1922), but her scenes ended up on the cutting room floor leaving Clara feeling completely devastated.

It was at this time her mother began having more serious seizures as a result of her medical problems, and one night she threatened Clara at knife point until falling to the floor from a particularly horrible seizure. This experience would give Clara insomnia and feelings of insecurity for the rest of her life.

In spite of how dreadful life was on the home front for Clara, her career in films started to really take off after being seen on the cover of Motion Picture Magazine. She was given a small part in the film Down to the Sea in Ships (1922) and even though ripped by the critics she caught the eye of producer B. P. Schulberg of Preferred Pictures (soon to become Paramount Pictures), and was off to Hollywood. It didn’t take long for audiences to begin a love affair with the soon to be “It Girl.”

Connecting Families With Movie Library Software

Some families like to play cards, while others like to travel together. But if your family likes to sit down in front of the TV and watch movies, perhaps it’s time to explore this shared activity in a deeper way. With movie library software, you can easily cater to everyone’s needs from movies, while also helping to encourage movie enthusiasts, while also sharing the movies you love – and expanding your own movie tastes. Why Do You Like to Watch Movies?

The thing with movie library software is that it doesn’t necessary require that you are a film buff or someone who can name every movie produced by certain directors. Some people just like to watch movies for the entertainment value – nothing more and nothing less. Of course, there are some families who like to watch movies 123movies for education, for discussion, or for simply watching certain actors develop in their careers. If you are looking to amass a movie collection, it might be a good idea to determine why you watch movies and thus then you can buy movies which fit into your larger goal – and thus have a more fulfilling movie watching experience with others. This will encourage movie sharing a recommendations, which will encourage more movie nights – and possibly new commonalities in terms of movie tastes. For example, if you encourage your mother to watch documentaries that you enjoy, she might become interested in watching more with you, increasing the depth of your conversations with each other – and even your relationship as a whole.

Four Criteria Of A Great Romance Movie

Romance movies are timeless. Everyone has his or her favorite romance movie. Most of the time, the romance movies serve a purpose, mostly, as an escapism. One thing that these movies do is that they keep the idea of romance alive. No matter how happy or tragic the ending is, romance movies are loved by its viewers for entertaining them and keeping their dream alive.

It begs a question.. what makes a great romance movie? There are some actors and actresses who are great for romance movies and some who do not. There are some stories that are simply remarkable and there are some stories that make you wonder who made it the first place. I believe that there are at least four criteria of a great romantic movie

1. Likability of the Leads

First and foremost, the leads in the movie must be ‘likable’, meaning that the target audience love them and believe that they are lovers or can be lovers in real life. Which means that they must have chemistry between them. When the chemistry is there, it makes the interactions in the movie likable and believable. And it is important for the audience to like the leads for them to ‘get’ the movie.

This factor made Meg Ryan, the romantic comedy queen in late 80s / early 90s. Her two major performance in ‘When Harry Meet Sally’ and ‘Sleepless In Seattle’, paired with two great leading men, Billy Crystal and Tom Hanks, was a major tour de force. In both movies, she ‘clicked’ with both of them, which gave the movies critical and commercial success.

2. Simple And Clear Storyline

Another important criteria is the storyline. It has to be simple and clear, so that the viewer can understand what is 123 movies free going on in the movie, which means, who are the parties in love and what is the situation. Romance movies are not good grounds to do plot twist and turns as it will turn off the viewers as it will interfere with the viewers enjoyment of the romance. An example of good storyline was the movie adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, in 2005. The movie did an excellent job in portraying the romance of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Darcy, showing the ‘games’ that both played with each other till they eventually fell in love in the end.

3. Movie Location / Background

The role of the movie location and background is to support and enhance the romance movie. It is not very important but it does play a role. The background refers to the cast that surrounds the leads, for example, family members or office mate. The movie location refers where the movie is situated. Usually, it is the movie locations that spice up the romance. A good example of the movie background is the cast of Four Weddings and a Funeral. In the movie, Charles’ set of eclectic friends complimented his ‘adventures’ in pursuing Carrie. A good example of movie location would be the location of Venice and Positano in Only You, starring Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey, where it made the romance in the movie magical, with glorious location scenes, Italian language and songs.

My Most Anticipated Movies of 2011

As we kick off a new year in cinema, I thought I’d take time to look ahead at the films we’ll be hit with over the course of the year. In this article, I’ll be going over what my 15 most anticipated movies are for the year. Now it should be noted, these aren’t the movies that I feel will be the best of 2011 necessarily. Rather, they’re the ones that, as of the time of this writing, I am anticipating the most. So without further ado, here are my most anticipated movies of 2011.

1. Sucker Punch

Director: Zack Snyder

Writer: Zack Snyder and Steve Shibuya

Stars: Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish

Release Date: March 25, 2011

Genre: Action Fantasy Thriller

What is it: A young girl is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility.

Why it should be good: Really hot and badass chicks wearing schoolgirl outfits and other skimpy clothes, with swords and guns, coupled with Snyder’s awesome visual flair? Yea, definitely count me in. The trailer for this thing just looks completely awesome. From the style to the action, even the story (while seeming a bit out there) seems cool. I’m beginning to thoroughly enjoy Snyder’s work. If The Adjustment Bureau could be this year’s new Inception due to its mindfuck story, then Sucker Punch could absolutely be this year’s Inception meets The Dark Knight meets 300 meets Inglorious Basterds due to it’s style and epic adventure, yet dark tone with alternate realities. This movie just oozes style and badass-ness and I really can’t wait for what is sure to be an absolutely entertaining, epic adventure.

Why it could suck: Snyder can be a bit off his mark sometimes. While Watchmen was enjoyable, it did get a bit boring. And Legend of the Guardians is said to suffer from some pacing issues as well and has drawn mixed reviews from critics. Though to be fair to Snyder, he wrote neither of those movies, but is responsible for the writing (or at least screenplay) of the badass 300.

2. Sherlock Holmes 2

Director: Guy Ritchie

Writer: Kieran and Michele Mulroney

Stars: Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, Noomi Rapace and Stephen Fry

Release Date: December 16, 2011

Genre: Action Mystery

What is it: Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson join forces to outwit and bring down their fiercest adversary, Professor Moriarty.

Why it should be good: I’m a big Sherlock Holmes fan. The Doyle stories still stand as my favorite books today. I yesmovies.to love Sherlock. He’s such a badass. And finally, a movie seems to have captured that pretty well. The first was one of the better portrayals of Sherlock I had seen. Rather than being portrayed as a snooty, ‘proper’ and sophisticated Englishman, he was shown with all the rough edges that Doyle wrote him with. While the movie was indeed Hollywood-ized beyond anything you’d find in the books, it was a fun adventure and quite an enjoyable movie. Guy Ritchie is a very good filmmaker as well. For these reasons, and my love for Sherlock, I’m very much eager to see how Part 2 turns out, especially as they go head-to-head with Moriarty. Also, I’m eager to see how well Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, etc) does in her Hollywood debut.
